The Pro Team consisting of Matthew Caruana & Ryan Micallef geared up for Team Kimura Racing in the iRacing Sebring 12 Hours. The race was a 12-hour endurance race held at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida.
For their second race together of the season Matt & Ryan were up again and the team were placed into Split 3.
Matthew was the driver chosen to do the qualifying lap and the best we achieved was P10 to start the race. Matthew had a great start going from P10 to P4 on the opening lap, with an incredible display by staying out of trouble with some amazing manoeuvres.
Matthew then went on to get himself into P1 coming towards the end of his two-hour stint, unfortunately due to a gaming error when Matthew came into the pits the car did not fuel so with Ryan taking to the track he then had to crawl round with no fuel to then refuel it again. This then put us back 2 laps and down in 11th place. Ryan Micallef did a great job in his first two-hour stint to try and claw back the damage that was caused through not refuelling and got back up to 8th place.
It was then time for Matthew to come back to do the longest stint of the day being five hours. With superb consistency and no errors, it looked like P6 was on the cards. Ryan took back to the track for the last hour unfortunately due to an incident with an LMP car he spun round dropping down to 8th which was our finishing position.
Ethan Pattison, Head of Sim Racing commented on both Matt & Ryan performances. ‘The two boys showed signs of further progression. Matt continued to demonstrate his class and consistency that he seems to be improving week by week. Ryan also showed strong ability and determination. For the Pro Team we need to ensure we keep improving the race craft of the drivers and ensure small setbacks do not lead to lapses in concentration. For the endurance races consistency is key and composure is important. The team have also been unlucky with a few external issues that have been out of our control, the team will come back stronger and more determined.’
