The iRacing GT4 championship launched May 2023, with the format below:
– Eight competing nations (Finland, Germany, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden & UK).
– Six rounds of time attack qualifiers and Clash of Nations races.
– Five tiers for all skill levels.
– €12,500 in cash prizes.
Both drivers qualified via the time attack event during Time Attack 1 at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The split then falls into separate tiers with 2 drivers per split per nation with only 5 splits are allowed to go through to the clash of nations event.
Matt made it into split 1 which was live streamed, and Donovan qualified for split 3 both of whom raced well against some strong competition throughout the UK & Ireland. Unfortunately, the split 3 Tier Race was cancelled so it meant Matt was left to fly the flag for Kimura Racing against the elite of each country in the Clash of Nations Tier 1 Race. Against extremely tough opposition Matt managed to secure 2nd place by 2 tenths. A superb achievement for our Pro Driver, demonstrating his quality and race craft.
The next time attack will take place in mid/late June where Matt will look to continue his form as the #1 UK & Ireland driver and maintaining his spot amongst the top drivers in Tier 1. Also, another chance for Donovan to get his opportunity to race after his misfortune.
