Kimura are delighted to announce the signing of our second female driver Liona Theobald to join the Female Sim Racing Team! Liona is 17 years old with a bright future ahead of her.
Liona has loved motorsport from a young age and had her first driving experience aged 11 in a Mini One at Brands Hatch with MSV Young Drive.
She has taken advantage of the great opportunities that local motorsport clubs can offer to juniors. As a member of Farnborough District Motor Club, Liona competed in a number of autosolos in my Mini Cooper. She also took part of in an autosolo demonstration at the British Motor Show which was a great experience for her.
More recently in, November 2021 Liona took part in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series which helped gain experience for the 2022 championship. In 2022, Liona went on to compete in the Ginetta Junior Championship which supported the BTCC with Assetto Motorsport.
In October 2022 she competed in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge for the last round of British GT with Elite Motorsport gaining experience on slicks to build her for the future. For the upcoming 2023 season Liona will be competing in Ginetta GT Pro with SVG Motorsport and racing for Kimura Racing for the Sim Season.
Liona is an ambassador off the track and has attended events such as ‘Girls on Track’ to help promote female participation in motorsport.
Head of Sim Racing, Ethan Pattison had this to say on the addition of Liona to the Kimura Sim Racing Team ‘I am thrilled to welcome Liona onboard, she has already shown great promise on the track and we are happy to be supporting her on the next step of her racing career. She will fit in well with the rest of the Kimura Racing team and will develop her racing skills which she can take into the Ginetta GT Pro Championship 2023 season.’
Upon joining Liona said “I am really excited to be joining the Kimura Female Racing Sim Team this year. I can’t wait for this opportunity and to develop with such a knowledgeable team! I am looking forward to working with Kimura and I can’t wait to get started!”
